I’ve always known that I wanted to be a shot caller. I am bossy by nature! What I have learned through the years that being the boss comes with a high cost. Below are 4 key characteristics of being a B.O.S.S. in your life. Please make a mental note, you will have to pay a price!

In order to be a B.O.S.S. in my life, I must be . . .

B—bold. Not bold in an arrogant way, but being a boss means being bold to go where no one else is willing to go. It’s forging the way where there is no way. It’s convincing others that this will work (even if you’ve never done it before). If you want to be a boss, get ready to pull up your big girl panties and boldly set out into your unchartered territory. P.S. Have fun while you’re doing it!

O—optimistic. When every one else is singing the blues, bosses sing the possibilities. Bosses say, yeah but look at what could be…what should be…what we can achieve together! Optimism isn’t some pie-in-the-sky unrealistic attitude. Optimism is seeing what others don’t see or can’t see, and having faith that it will come, it can be done, it will end in your favor!

S—steady. Almost seems counterintuitive to bring steadiness into the mix. But if you want to be a boss for life, it’s going to take being steady and consistent for a very long time. I had to hold the family “ship” while raising my four kids steady for YEARS. I’ve had to hold the reigns on my non-profit steady for YEARS. I’ve had to hold my emotions, my sanity, my purpose (and the list goes on and on) steady for YEARS. You want to be a boss in life, get ready to hold it together.

S—secure. Bosses can’t have confidence gaps that leave them wishy-washy. Bosses have to be secure in their decisions, in their purpose, in their calling…bosses have to have a security that preferably lies outside of themselves. They’ve got to know that they know they are the boss! Security for me comes from my relationship with Christ and what He’s done in and through me. The only way I can be a boss is by knowing who my Boss really is!

I hope this week you bring your boss-ness up to a new level! LOL! Have fun!
